The whole method was designed to help his patients to recover after their physical injuries. That included wounded soldiers and dancers, and all people who needed a different type of exercise to get in physical shape. Today, in many San Francisco Pilates salons you can find great instructors to help you achieve the body you have always dreamed of.

Sometimes it is practiced on the floor, and sometimes different equipment is used. The result of this form of exercise is improved muscle strength, balanced body and mind and slimmer and leaner body, in very good physical condition.

The point is to balance body and mind, and to include both in each and every move you make. It means you have to be aware of your muscles, especially the core muscles, in order to achieve your goals. The breathing should also be controlled. The series of movements affects your whole body, especially those muscles that usually get neglected in other forms of trainings.

When it comes to some other forms of exercise, those first trainings can be quite painful. Here, the risk of injuries is absolutely minimized, and this include muscle pains and similar issues. Slow movements and deep concentration on your body and mind, that's what all this is about. Activation of core muscles is essential for achieving really great results.

Of course, all sessions have to be supervised. Depending on your physical condition, your trainer will design the workout for you.
