These days Life is incredibly full. No break from the fast-paced days. Most people find that their adrenals are stressed; their emotions, wound up; their head, full of chatter. There are so many choices to de-stress: both allopathic and alternative possibilities. I generally choose Herbs because there are safe without side effects. A wonderful herbal formula for Stress:
Reishi; Oats; Linden; Baikal Skullcap; Holy Basil; Schisandra
I like to use my herbs in the form of tinctures which have been extracted using both water and alcohol. Tinctures are easy to mix; and to change the mixture. They also last a long time.
Reishi, Ganoderma lucidum, is a mushroom that the Chinese often refer to as the Emperor's Choice because it is effective for over 95% of the systems of the body. Reishi should be a big part of the formula. Even taken alone it is so comprehensive that it can relieve stress by itself. Reishi is anti-bacterial, anti-inflammation, anti-oxidant, anti-tumor, anti-viral, works on blood pressure, blood sugar, cardiovascular, cholesterol reducer, immune system, kidney tonic, lungs/respiratory, nerve tonic, sexual potentiator, stress reducer (Check out The Chart of Mushrooms' Therapeutic Effects which can be found at my website listed below). Reishi is so amazing that it is said to stop anaphylactic shock; therefore, a must for people who are allergic to bee stings or suffer from huge reactions to any insect bites. A small amount of the extract can be put directly on the bite; and dropper(s) full taken internally until swelling goes down.
Oats are best taken as Organic Wild Oats Milky Seed (Avena sativa). It is important to get organic tincture because the seed is the part of the plant in which most of the poison from pesticides resides. You cannot overdose on Oats. They are so good for the nervous system. Another good way to get your Oats is through oatmeal: Or, even better, through whole grain oats. Since whole grain oats take a long time to cook, cooking overnight in a crock pot can be very helpful. What a delicious way to start the day.
Linden, flowers and leaves (Tilia europaea) are good for the heart and will lighten things up. You cannot go wrong with reading under a Linden tree.
Skullcap from China, Baikal Skullcap (Scutellaria baicalensis), its root soothes the nerves, is good for the heart, and breathing. It combines well with other herbs for increased immunity. It is an anti-inflammatory.
Holy Basil (Tulsi) (Ocimum tenuiflorum) leaf is gently uplifting and calming. If you plant it in front of your front steps, it will waft a beautiful scent as you enter your home. It may be extraordinarily paired with Baikal Skullcap. If you have trouble sleeping, please do not take Holy Basil after 3:30 PM.
Schisandra, ripe berries, (Schisandra chinensis (Wu Wei Zi)) is an adaptogen which means it balances the body by moving the energy up or down according to its need. It works on the liver helping it to do its work.
So here we have a formula of six herbs. These herbs work well in combination with each other. They enhance each other. The combination affects most of the body, with extra specifics for the heart, the nerves, the liver, and the immune system. It is so comprehensive that it de-stresses the body and your emotions. It makes more room for enjoying life.
